🌺 New season, packing, and coffee chats

Hi Reader

There comes a point with an upcoming move that my priorities start to shift.

My energy goes from planning and preparing to very actively doing.

This happened a few weeks ago and the reason I’ve been in your inbox a bit less.

It means my energy is going toward sorting, packing, selling, and donating.

It means that my house feels like a disaster as we thoughtfully purge.

Every move has challenges, so far this one for me is making myself mentally and physically available to help all four of my children sort and pack their own belongings.

It means helping my 10 year old daughter work through being sentimental and clingy about her things for the first time.

Giving her space and attention to work through different gifts and hand-me-downs she’s received over the years.

Some are still beloved and others not as much.

It means sitting beside her and helping her sort through her socks, something she just couldn’t bear to do on her own this time.

Giving her permission to thank her socks for protecting and warming her feet and then placing some in the garbage bin when they are riddled with holes, some small and others quite large.

This shift in her caught me by surprise this year as she has always been the tosser and quick decision maker in our family.

So I will make more time for her packing than I planned for. In doing so part of me is grieving the lack of time that we have to enjoy Spring and outings and adventures we usually take.

To combat that, I started walking outside again.

This time at 8 in the morning and only for 30 minutes.

I love the morning light and the chatter of birds.

My aim for this season is grounding myself for the day ahead, renewing my mind, and refreshing my spirit.

In my business that means stepping back from client work and focusing on organizing and automating things.

One place I’ve struggled as an entrepreneur is lead generation.

I’ve struggled to be consistent creating long form content, my first chosen strategy.

Right now, I am in an experimenting phase to see what other approaches I may really like.

I’m leaning into building more active relationships through coffee chats and also learning about a more laidback approach to list building which involves a set it and forget it Facebook Ads strategy.

If you’ve new here or have been in my world for a while but haven’t connected yet, I’d love to get to know you better.

Here’s a link to book a Coffee Chat.

There’s no agenda other than connection.

If you’d like to explore ads for the first time or just want a different approach my mentor, Cody Burch is hosting a free build week soon.

Three women all looking to the left for direction

Hi Reader I’ve been slowly working on this online business dream for years in the little moments and occasionally the wee hours of the night. Next to parenting, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It undoes me at times. It's made me reach down deep into my fears, things I didn’t even know I was afraid of and figure out how to take messy action and be ok with it being messy. One of the things I’ve done to help get clarity in how to move forward is to be a part of a mastermind group. So far...

Woman wearing orange shirt walking down tree lined dirt road at sunrise

Hi Reader I’ve been thinking more about aging as my 50th birthday approaches in a little over a month. When I was younger, I was a star athlete. I did gymnastics, ran track, played volleyball and basketball. In college, I took enough dance classes to get a minor (but they didn’t offer one). But motherhood, homeschooling, starting an online business, and the stress of frequent moves and of adulting have undone so much of this early foundation. I’ve been consistently inconsistent and plagued by...

Pruning sheers pruning a rose bush

Hi Reader Sometimes you need to cut back some things in order to make room for new growth. Yesterday, I started helping prune the rose bushes in my mother’s garden. I’ve been doing it every year that I live close by since I was teenager. Every time it’s a bit hard to get started. There are new leaf buds everywhere, a tangled mess of last year’s tiny stems, and thick, old dead canes that are always really hard to get to. The only way to start is to start somewhere. Pick a cane and make a cut....
